Charter Communications Breaks Grounds on New Regional Headquarters. 200 New Jobs Expected.


Charter Communications, Inc. had a groundbreaking ceremony at its new Southeast Regional Headquarters and Call Center on Tuesday, September 11 at the Center Pointe Business Park at I-385 and Bridges Road.

Charles Way, Secretary of Commerce for the State of South Carolina, David Brown, President of the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Scott Case, Vice Chairman Greenville County Council and Bill Barbour, Vice President of Charter Communications� Southeast Region were all present at the groundbreaking for the new facility which is expected to generate up to 200 new jobs for the Upstate area.

Bill Barbour, Regional Vice President of Charter Communications said, �We are honored that these guests will help mark what is an important step in enabling Charter to better serve our customers. By creating more space, we can continue to grow along with South Carolina and the Upstate area.�

Governor Jim Hodges said, "We welcome Charter Communications as part of our Team South Carolina. I can say without hesitation that locating here will help this aggressive high-tech company reach its business goals faster than any other place in the world, because we have the dependable employees, access to technology infrastructure and a positive growth environment to make it happen."

When it is completed, the state-of-the-art facility will have a customer care center capable of seating up to 350 customer service representatives. Also included in the design are the Southeast Regional Headquarters and Operations Center, a Customer Care Center, the Network Service Operations Center for Charter�s Eastern Division as well as training facilities for both the customer care and the technical staffs. A demonstration area will give customers the opportunity to sample Charter�s wide array of products before selecting the service best suited for them. The building is expected to be completed by summer of 2002 and will house approximately 500 associates.
