Clemson Athletics and BI-LO signed a three year exclusive sponsorship recently making BI LO "The Official Supermarket of Clemson Athletics" through June 30, 2010. As part of the contract "Tiger Calls," the live weekly radio call-in show featuring Coach Tommy Bowden (football season) and Coach Oliver Purnell (basketball season) will be held at area BI LO Supermarkets. "We are as excited today as we were in 1998 when BI LO first approached us for permission to use the Tiger Paw in their logo and throughout the Clemson store", said Bill D'Andrea, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. "The family atmosphere at Clemson events is outstanding and that matters to our customers. Education and athletics are two of the many reasons why we have enjoyed this partnership for the past 20 years and will for the next 3 years," says BI-LO Executive Vice President of Marketing, Tye Anthony. The 2007 football season marks the 21st consecutive year that BI LO has been a sponsor of Clemson Athletics and to be the Exclusive Supermarket will allow BI LO to bring many exciting promotions to Clemson Athletic events and during the Tiger Calls Radio Show at their Upstate area supermarkets. In 2005, lucky BI-LO customer Chris Bostic of Myrtle Beach, SC won a $1,000,000 in the Healthy Choice Pigskin Challenge football toss during a timeout in the Clemson-Florida State football game. The football must fly through a 15-inch target from a distance of 25 yards. This year another BI-LO customer will have a chance to win a $1,000,000 in the Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes Pigskin Challenge during a timeout in the Clemson-Virginia Tech football game. Since 1987 BI-LO has contributed nearly $4 million to Clemson University in sponsorships for scholarships, mentoring programs, the Brooks Center and Food Science. With headquarters in Mauldin, SC, BI-LO operates 227 supermarkets in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee and employs 17,000 people. For more information about Bi-Lo, visit http://www.bi-lo.com.
