Eugenia Duke Bridge Closed for Two Weeks; Bridge Will Reopen on Nights and Weekends

A popular pedestrian bridge located behind the Peace Center will be closed from 7 am to 5:30 pm, Monday, July 22, to Friday, July 26.

The bridge will reopen each night and on the weekend.

Construction will continue on Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 2, with a full closure for the week. The bridge is expected to reopen on Friday, August 2, at 5:30 p.m. All work is weather dependent.

Detour signage will be in place for pedestrians, using both the Main Street Bridge and Falls Park.

Workers will replace all the existing pine deck planks, which have deteriorated due to age. The new Thermo Ash decking has a lifespan of up to 25 years, which is at least three times longer than traditional wood decking. The new surface will receive an environmentally-friendly anti-slip coating, and the bridge structure will be repainted.
