Repairs to a heavily-eroded streambank next to Bobby Pearse Community Center are almost complete.
Crews completed the installation of a rock structure in the stream channel to direct water flow away from the repaired bank. They also removed a large fallen tree stump from a smaller tributary. Both creeks flow into Richland Creek in the North Main neighborhood.
A series of “geolifts” and boulders were constructed to repair the eroded hillside. A geolift is made up of soil wrapped in fiber and has the appearance of stairs. As plants grow between the geolifts, roots help stabilize the soil along the slope. With the earthwork complete, crews will add plantings and replace sidewalk in the park to finish the project.
