Registration Open for the 2022-23 Greenville County Schools Virtual Program

Greenville County students and parents have a final opportunity to enroll in the full-time virtual program.

Registration for the 2022-23 GCS Virtual Program opened at 8:00 am on Monday, May 2, and will continue through 5:00 pm on Friday, May 13.  To register, students must be enrolled in Greenville County Schools and parents must have a BackPack account. **The Virtual Program will not be offered for Specialized/Magnet programs such as Charles Townes Center, Language Immersion and preschool programs.  For the most intensive special education services, which is typically referred to as self-contained programming, an IEP meeting will need to be held in order to determine if a student can receive a Free and Appropriate Education in the Virtual Program.

All current Virtual Program students will need to reapply for next year or the student will be reassigned to the student’s home-based school.  If you have already applied for the Virtual Program for 2022-2023, you do not need to apply again.

This is the final window for those students/parents who are certain they want their students to participate in the Virtual Program next fall.  Every student who applies will be placed on a waitlist. Students on the waitlist will be accepted and scheduled in the Virtual Program based on availability of space and academic eligibility.  An application does not guarantee that you will be accepted into the Virtual Program, but does put you on a waitlist for possible acceptance.

We will email notifications of acceptance and Virtual Program contracts by May 31. Students in the Virtual Program will be scheduled based on grade level and academic record. GCS cannot guarantee placement with other students or teachers from the home-based school.  Middle and high school parents will be contacted by the Virtual Program guidance counselors to schedule an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) conference.

Students will be expected to participate daily in live sessions at scheduled times. Those who fail to do so will be marked absent and are subject to truancy consequences.  Exceptions are based on extenuating circumstances and must be pre-approved in advance by the virtual administrator.

Students accepted into the virtual program for the 2022-2023 school year will not be eligible for magnet academies or change in assignment choice. If a student is approved for a magnet or choice slot after being accepted in the virtual program, parents must state their intent by the deadline or forfeit their choice/magnet slot.

Note: During the 2022-23 Virtual Program application window of May 2-13, parents will not be able to apply for the current school year using Parent Backpack.
