The Greenville Technical College Area Commission has voted to extend a tuition freeze through the end of this year.
The board took this action to keep education affordable during the pandemic and as the nation begins to recover. The freeze was first instituted in summer 2020 and has continued since that time.
As the economy is gaining momentum, well-qualified graduates are needed in many areas including advanced manufacturing, health care, cybersecurity, information technology, construction, transportation, and more. By completing their credentials now, graduates will be ready for the opportunities ahead.
The board’s action keeps the cost of tuition for 12 credit hours at $2,389 (or $1,069 with lottery tuition assistance for those who qualify) for a resident of Greenville County. An out-of-county resident would pay $2,593 in tuition (or $1,273 with lottery funds) for 12 credit hours.
The number of face-to-face classes at Greenville Technical College will increase for Fall Semester 2021 while there will still be a wide range of delivery options including online and hybrid classes for those who prefer remote formats. Fall Semester classes will begin on Monday, August 23.
“This extension is a reflection of the board’s concern for students and hope that those who may have put educational plans on hold can now begin to move forward,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of the college. “By holding tuition steady, the board is hoping to remove obstacles for students and provide businesses with the qualified employees they need to meet improving demand.”
