The City of Greenville will hold a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, May 25, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, to present the draft West End Small Area Plan.
The project includes a study area near the west end of downtown, bordered roughly by Academy Street to the north and Pendleton Street to the south. Working with Urban Design Associates and community representatives, city staff identified supportive architecture and site design elements, and then developed a vision for future development and growth.
The project is designed to build on the tool kit developed for the South Downtown Master Plan, which addresses building types, setbacks, heights and public open space, and creates a regulating plan for blocks and street frontages. The goal is to provide a foundation for the potential adoption of refinements to the existing zoning and development regulations for the area.
The draft plan will be discussed in a special-called workshop with the Design Review Board on June 1, and then be scheduled for delivery to the Planning Commission in July.
