Boardwalk at Cancer Survivors Park Closed July 9-11

The boardwalk at the Cancer Survivors Park will be closed from Monday, July 9th, through Wednesday, July 11th, to allow crews to remove several dead trees.

As each tree is removed, heavy equipment will be used to transport the tree from the site. Flaggers will briefly stop pedestrian and bicycle traffic on the section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail under the Church Street Bridge when the equipment is entering and exiting the site; however, other than those brief periodic closures, the Swamp Rabbit Trail will be open.

The Cancer Survivors Park is a place of respite, rejuvenation, inspiration and education for individuals and families touched by cancer during and after treatment. The park will be the focal point for survivorship celebrations and a place of spiritual connection for all survivors. Survivors are defined as those living with the disease, caregivers, family members and clinical staff working with those living with the disease as well as all those whose lives continue to be filled with the memories of loved ones who have ended their battle.

The Greenville Journal recently wrote about the park’s origins and how the project got to where it is today. View the article online at greenvillejournal.com.
