The Greenville Drive recently welcomed talented youth baseball players from Northwood Little League for a special celebration.
The Drive recognized the Juniors and Minors All-Star teams for their outstanding accomplishments this summer.
The Northwood Juniors team, comprised of 13 and 14 year olds, won both their state and regional tournament to reach the Junior League World Series in Detroit, where they posted a 3-2 record while winning their consolation game of the tournament.
Northwood’s Minors Team of nine and 10 year olds won the state tournament and reached the Tournament of State Champions, held in Greenville, North Carolina. They advanced all the way to the Southeast championship game.
Last season, the Northwood Little League Majors team reached the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and saw many of their regional contests as well as their World Series games televised on ESPN. The Drive recognized the Northwood team at Fluor Field following their run to Williamsport and wore special Northwood themed jerseys during the game last September 6th.
