Discussion about Eisenhower with Doug Mishler
During the June Festival at 9am | Sat June 11 | Mon June 13 | Tue June 14 | Thu June 16 | Fri June 17 | we gather together to pick the brains of the historical performers. No costumes, no script, just a chance to have some personal time and dialog with the performers – and get to know them and what they think about their characters.
Each morning features a different performer/historical figure. Often the other performers and Chautauqua staff join in the fun. And if you come to multiple Discussions, you begin to see how the 2022 “Challenge: Accepted!” historical figures relate to each other.
Come view the brand new modern Senior Action Headquarters. Plenty of free parking.
The Morning Discussion Series is collaboration with Senior Action which provides fun, arts, lifelong learning, activities, meals, transportation and so much more for over 5000 seniors in Greater Greenville. And it’s a chance to explore their brand new state-of-the-art home base just opened to the public last Spring.
About Doug Mishler, Ph.D.
Since 1993 Doug has been nationally recognized for bringing “history to life.” Doug has presented figures from Nikita Khrushchev to Theodore Roosevelt, to Ernie Pyle, and P. T. Barnum. He has made over 800 first person presentations of over 30 historical figures, including Stonewall Jackson, Henry Ford, Pablo Picasso, and now Dwight D Eisenhower, Nikola Tesla, and Gene Roddenberry.
The voices in his head keep him busy, but also in the last four years he has been the Founder & Managing Artistic Director of Restless Artists’ Theatre. When not in the theatre or doing his characters, Mishler has taught American Cultural history for over 20 years. Like his idol Teddy Roosevelt, Doug believes there is still plenty of time to grow up and get a “real job”—but later!
