City Seeking Comment on Dunbar Street and Green Avenue Safety Plan

The City of Greenville’s Engineering Services Department has completed traffic and pedestrian safety audits along the entirety of Dunbar Street and Green Avenue, with the goal of increasing safety along these corridors.

Staff will be making both short- and long-term recommendations to improve infrastructure.

Working with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), Greenville County, the Greenville County School District and consultant AECOM, City engineers will presented their initial recommendations at a public meeting on Oct. 22, 2024.

Submit feedback online by Nov. 30, 2024.

TOP RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Consider “road diet” or lane reduction plan for Dunbar Street
  • Develop a traffic calming plan for Green Avenue
  • Prioritize pedestrian improvements such as sidewalk repairs, high-visibility crosswalks and pedestrian signals
  • Consider a lane reduction plan, roundabouts or upgraded signals along Dunbar Street
  • Signalize the Dunbar-Calhoun intersection, or convert to roundabout
